Learning How to Blog Successfully is not all that difficult.

You can learn How to blog effectively by following the guidelines I outline below.

1. First things first.. You need to Set up your Blog and get it Online Asap. I always recommend using WordPress to Self Host your blog. That means you will need to register a Domain Name with a Domain Registrar like GoDaddy and then sign up for a hosting account as well. To register a domain with GoDaddy would normally cost you around $10 but by using this Promo code you can register your domain with a disount. It’s “diggnation” Just enter this code when you make your purchase to receieve your discount. Your Hosting account will cost as little as $4.99 per month.

I wont get into the HOW of registering and loading WordPress on to your new domain in this post I’ll record a Video that will walk you through the process. Suffice to say It is very easy and straight forward.

2. The second thing you want to do is Set your Blog up to Be SEO Optimized by adding a few important Plugins and activating an attractive looking wordpress theme. You can see the list of plugins I reocmmend here: WordPress Plugins

… OK,  Now that your Blog looks the way you want it and is now Optimized for the Search Engines, we can take the Next step in “How to Blog Successfully”. It’s time to talk about a Posting Strategy that will have your New Blog Generating A growing flow of traffic.

3. When to Post to your Blog – In the beginning I recommend Posting to your Blog Every day for the first 4 weeks. This will essentially train the search engines to come back to your site often and re-index your posts. After the first 4 weeks you can slow down to about 3 posts per week. You will want to Post One Killer Post per week (we call this Link Bait) and the rest of them can be scraped from the Internet or even outsourced. (Still valuable but you can put much less time into writing them)

4. How to Post to your Blog – You may be wondering How to Write your Posts to get the Best Results… Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Firstly, it is always a good idea to do a little Keyword Research before you get ready to write your post. Decide on your topic and then Ask yourself What Unique angle can you use that will give you the best chance to get in front of your target market. If you can find a long tail keyword(a keyword with 3 – 4 words or more) that has under 20,000 competing pages and at least 500 monthly searches you have a potential winner. Use your keyword in the title of your Blog Post, At the beginning of the article and then sprinkle it a few more times naturally throughout the copy. Secondly here are some of the Best Types of Blog Posts to write:

• Stories – especially if you can weave a lesson into your story.
• Product and Service Reviews
• Tutorials and How To’s
• Industry Updates and News
• Editorials/Essays

Use Bullet Points, Try to be entertaining, write a tory if you can to relate your experiences & always provide Value!

6. Once you have posted your blog artcile it’s now time to get it “Socialized” I recommend having a Social Bookmarking and Sharing strategy in place so that every time you post to your blog it gets shared on your social sites and increases your exposure. This is an advanced strategy and although it’s not mandatory it is a really great way to increase your readership. I will fully explain this in an upcoming post.

7. The Last thing I want to touch on is make sure you have an Attractive and Effective OPT IN Form on your Blog. The idea for you blogging strategy is to provide enough value that your readers will want to keep in touch with you by opting in to your list.
